Lüneburg with its age of 1050 years is a very fascinating city in Northern Germany. For more than a thousand years salt had been boilt here and thanks to the business with the “White Gold” Lüneburg became rich and well-recognised in mediaeval times. The popular salt museum demonstrates quite descriptively and not at all boring, how important salt was those days. Moreover, it is shown how it was mined and transported. It is a pleasure for all ages.
A salty pleasure is also the indoor waterpark “SaLü”, where the brine is still sputtering.
In the Old Town of Lüneburg many, many shops are situated. Due to the traffic calming measures it is a great place for extensive shopping tours.
