A Maritime Metropolis

40 theatres, 60 museums and 100 clubs cannot be captured in one day. So make a choice for your trip and be sure that you will visit Hamburg again. The variety of cultural life leaves nothing to be desired.
The harbour is a real crowd puller. Join one of the harbour tours or visit the „Cap San Diego“, the biggest seaworthy heritage ship in the world. You can also participate in a tour on the Elbe.
In the centre of Hamburg luxurious shops on the Alster lake and the Boulevard Jungfernstieg radiate a strong fascination. Can you resist?
One of the most impressive tourist features of Hamburg is the church St. Michaelis, which ever since has been called „Michel“. Certainly it is one of the most beautiful baroque churches of Northern Germany. The tower with its coppery spire is the most important landmark on Hamburg’s skyline.
The Reeperbahn owns the night with its numerous shows, dancing clubs and bars.
By car Hamburg is just 30 minutes away from Geesthacht. However, you can get there easily also by bus and train. By bus it takes a ride of 10 minutes to the train station in Bergedorf and then it has to be continued by train (S-Bahn) to Hamburg.
Please have a look at the time schedule of the public transport organisation “HVV” (www.hvv.de) for further details.
