The nature reserve „Hohes Elbufer“ is an area of 455 hectare and leads 9 kilometres along the Elbe between Tesperhude, a suburb of Geesthacht, and Lauenburg. Follow the idyllic trail along a natural riverside woodland and enjoy seeing the water of the Elbe twinkling through the trees. A very nice tour starts in Tesperhude and ends in Schnakenbek/Sandkrug. The walk takes about three to four hours and is an unforgettable experience at any season. The best way to return from Schnakenbek to Tesperhude is by bus. Since 1997 the nature reserve is part of the biosphere reserve approved by the UNESCO.
